Why we built Hive
Most team AI tools bolt agents on as an integration. We wanted agents to be first-class teammates — shared, configurable, and running on the subscriptions you already pay for.
Every team we talk to has the same problem: everyone is quietly paying for their own AI, in their own chat window, doing their own thing. Knowledge doesn’t compound. Nobody can reuse the good prompt someone else wrote. And the bill grows in a dozen places at once.
Hive is our answer. You define an agent once — its role, tools, skills, reasoning effort, and model — and the whole team shares it. A powerful orchestrator can break a task into pieces and hand each to the right specialist. Automations run on a schedule and report back to Telegram. And it all runs on your own Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini subscriptions instead of per-token API bills.
Two engines sit under one workspace. A fast pooled-model engine handles everyday chat. An autonomous engine on the Claude Agent SDK does real work — bash, files, the web, databases via MCP — with human-in-the-loop approvals when it matters.
The whole thing is built from the Python standard library and SQLite. No framework to outgrow, no vendor to be locked into. It’s auditable, forkable, and yours to host.
That’s the point: your team’s AI should be one shared, owned thing — not a dozen private tabs.
